You can insure all of your eligible children for up to $20,000 of Life Coverage and $100,000 of Major Impairment Benefit per eligible child.

Review the Benefits Table, and calculate your own coverage cost.

Eligibility

Children of members insured for Member Term Life are eligible for Child Life & Accident Coverage if they are unmarried, dependent on the member for support, over 14 days and under 25 years of age, in full-time attendance at a school or university if they are age 21 but not yet 25.

If you have Child Coverage, we automatically insure newborn children when they reach 15 days of age.

Other Details

Beneficiary

The insured member (or, if deceased, the estate of the insured member) is the beneficiary unless Manulife Financial receives a written notice naming a different beneficiary.

Conversion

This privilege is not available on the lives of insured children.

Limitations and Exclusions

For Major Impairment Benefits to be payable, the Major Impairment must be caused by purely accidental means and must occur within 3 months of the accident, and the insured child who suffers the Major Impairment must survive the loss for at least 30 days. Benefits are not payable for injuries resulting from war or from any act of insurrection.
