Benefits & Premiums

To shield your finances from the effects of an accident, Major Accident Protection offers you and your spouse the security of up to $300,000 Major Impairment benefits per person, plus an Accidental Death benefit of up to $60,000 per person.

Eligibility

All Alumni of the University are eligible to apply for Member Major Accident Protection Insurance.

Spouses of members insured for Term Life or Major Accident Protection Insurance are eligible to apply for Spouse Major Accident Protection Insurance (unless they are eligible for Member Major Accident Protection Insurance).

All applicants must be resident in Canada and less than 61 years of age.

Other Details

Beneficiary
Benefits will be paid to the insured member, if living, otherwise to the beneficiary appointed by the member.

If no beneficiary is elected, benefits will be paid to the estate of the insured member.

Conversion
This benefit is not convertible.

Limitations and Exclusions
Any loss must be caused by purely accidental means and must occur within 3 months of the accident.

Benefits are not payable for self-inflicted injury, voluntary involvement in a criminal offense, insurrection, war or flying (except as a passenger with no flight duties).

For Major Impairment benefits to be payable, the insured member or spouse who suffers the Major Impairment must survive the loss for at least 30 days.
