...PLUS an excellent new opportunity to collect AIR MILES® reward miles if you choose to pay your premiums monthly!
Get the peace of mind you need to spend your time recovering, not worrying about bills.
If you've ever been hospitalized, you know what a terrible strain it can be on your family's budget. You have to worry about getting help to look after your children, your pets, your home and your yard ...you have to pay to rent a hospital television and telephone ...you have to consider travel expenses, accommodations and hospital parking for your visitors ...you have to pay for medical items such as bandages or a cane, and other items you’ll need after you’re discharged ...and you have to pay the late charges on any overdue bills.
The new "Rewards for Life®" Hospital Cash Plan, underwritten by The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company (Manulife Financial) and featuring an opportunity to collect AIR MILES® reward miles, was designed to take the worry out of your recovery. You can receive payments of $175 a day (or $140 a day, if you smoke) for every day you are hospitalized, whether it's because of a sickness or an accident. The benefits continue for up to 365 days (for a total of up to $63,875). The same benefits apply to your spouse, if insured. If any of your insured children are hospitalized because of a sickness or an accident, you can receive payments of $100 a day for every day the child is hospitalized, for up to 365 days (for a total of up to $36,500).
All benefits are paid from the first day of a hospital stay due to an accident, and retroactively from the first day of a hospital stay of 4 successive days or longer, if your hospital stay is due to sickness. These benefits are paid directly to you, to spend as you wish. In fact, these benefits are not even taxable so long as you, and not your employer, pay the premiums.
