With cutbacks in health care, you can't afford to gamble that your family's health needs will be met by the government. But without a company health plan to protect them, the costs of a prolonged illness, an unexpected injury or extra dental work can quickly spiral out of control. How can you ensure your family's well-being while reducing your financial risk?
The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) endorses this Extended Health Care & Dental Plan because it offers an affordable way for you to safeguard yourself and your family against the unforeseen costs of health care not covered by your provincial or territorial health insurance. The Dental Care option adds much-needed protection against the costs of your family's dental care, which is especially important to families with growing children. And there's no deductible on benefits paid under CREA Extended Health Care & Dental coverage!

Your premiums may be tax deductible if you are self-employed! Check with Canada Customs and Revenue Agency for details.

You pay no deductible for yourself (and, if you choose Family Coverage, for your spouse and all your eligible children) to enjoy a wide range of covered expenses, including:

  • Semi-private hospital room stay: 100% paid for up to 120 days OR $40 a day cash paid directly to you for up to 120 days if you stay in a public ward.
  • Semi-private convalescent home accommodations: 100% paid for up to 120 days.
  • Prescription Drugs: 80% paid, up to $1,500 each policy year per person, to a lifetime maximum of $40,000 per person. The Plan covers generic drugs or, when no generic equivalent is available, brand-name drugs. There is a $7 cap on dispensing fees.
  • Nurses' Fees: Up to $5,000 paid each policy year.
  • Health care related costs: Includes ambulance, medical supplies and equipment and artificial limbs.
  • Psychologists' fees: Up to $500 paid each policy year.
  • Registered specialists' fees: Includes fees of up to $300 paid per person per category each policy year, for chiropractors, osteopaths, naturopaths, speech therapists, audiologists, physiotherapists and massage therapists.
  • Dental costs related to an accident: Up to $1,000 paid per injury.
  • Transportation other than by ambulance: Up to $1,000 paid for any one injury or illness.

Add optional Dental Care to your coverage for yourself, your spouse and your eligible children enrolled in Extended Health Care coverage. Once insured, you pay no deductible and will be covered for 75%, to a maximum of $500 per person in the first year (following a three-month waiting period) and a maximum of $1,000 per person in each year after that. Dental Care covers a wide range of expenses, including:
  • Routine examination every nine months.
  • Cleaning and scaling every nine months.
  • Dental x-rays including one posterior, bilateral bitewing set every 9 months and one full-mouth set every 24 months.
  • Treatment of pain as necessary.
  • Fillings of amalgam, silicate, acrylic and composite material.
  • Extractions and oral surgery performed by a dentist, including anaesthesia.
  • Root canal (endodontics).
  • Repair and re-cementing of crowns, inlays and dentures, and re-lining of dentures.
  • Periodontal treatment of diseases of gums and tissues.
  • Oral hygiene instruction (limited to one session per adult).
  • Consultation by the attending dentist.
