The CPSA Critical Illness Plan offers you a unique solution. Choose benefits of up to $1 million per person
You can purchase coverage in multiples of $1,000, from $25,000 up to $1,000,000, if you are under age 65. You can also extend this coverage to your spouse, if under age 65, for the same choice of coverage amount.
CPSA Critical Illness benefits are paid in a lump sum, directly to you and can be used however you choose. For example, you can:
- Fund alternative medical treatment or medical treatment outside the country
- Cover the cost of uninsured medical expenses
- Adapt your home to accommodate a medical condition
- Supplement CPSA Disability Plan benefits
- Pay off a mortgage or other debt or continue your retirement or investment contributions
- Fund job retraining or vocational rehabilitation
- Replace reduced earnings or fund a move to a less stressful form of employment
- Fund child care expenses
- Take a vacation
Valuable features help you secure what matters most
The CPSA Critical Illness Plan offers both members and spouses these valuable features:
Return of Premium on Death - If you die within 30 days of the first diagnosis of one of the covered conditions, or from a cause other than one of the covered conditions, and if no CPSA Critical Illness Plan benefit has been paid, all premiums will be paid to your named beneficiary.
Optional Waiver of Premium - You can further protect yourself by adding the optional Waiver of Premium to your CPSA Critical Illness Plan. If you choose the Waiver of Premium option, and you become totally disabled and remain totally and permanently disabled for at least 6 continuous months, your CPSA Critical Illness Plan premiums will be waived while your coverage stays in force, until you are no longer totally disabled. This option is available to income earners only.
