 | Manulife’s Financial Strength Ratings
Most financial services companies in Canada are examined by independent rating agencies. These agencies rate a company’s financial strength, its overall operations and its ability to meet its obligations to its customers. The more highly a company is rated, the better able it is to honour its financial commitments.
Manulife has been recognized for its exceptional financial and operational strength with ratings that set it apart both nationally and globally.
- Manulife’s rated insurance subsidiaries have earned Standard and Poor’s AAA rating for financial strength. It is the agency’s highest rating and one they assign to very few companies worldwide.
- Manulife is the only insurance company in Canada and only one of two publicly traded life insurance companies in the world to have this AAA rating from Standard and Poor’s.
- In September 2007, Moody’s Investors Service raised the insurance financial strength ratings on our rated insurance subsidiaries to Aa1, making Manulife the only insurance company in Canada to be given such a strong endorsement.
We’ve earned these top ratings for our consistent earnings performance, our strong market positions in North America and Asia, our well-balanced investment portfolio, our ability to manage risk and our strong capital position. These ratings are the assurance you need that we will be here in the long-term to fulfill our promises.
