Top Canadian Growth Fund manager joins
MFC Global Investment Management

Toronto – Shauna Sexsmith, one of Canada’s leading growth fund managers, has joined MFC Global Investment Management (MFC Global), a Manulife Company, as Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager.

“Shauna’s proven track record and experience as one of the most consistent growth managers in Canada adds another top-performing manager to MFC Global’s stable of investment professionals,” said Donald Guloien, Chairman and CEO, MFC Global. “Hiring Shauna is part of a larger plan to grow our asset management business.”

“With Shauna’s addition, we now offer greater breadth of Canadian equity management expertise covering every investment style from value to aggressive growth” said Mark Schmeer, Managing Director, Equities, MFC Global. MFC Global’s North American equity team manages assets in excess of C$7.2 billion.

Shauna joins MFC Global from Altamira Management Ltd., where she managed more than C$750 million in assets in both institutional and retail funds, including the Elliott & Page Canadian Equity Fund (formerly known as the E&P Cabot Canadian Equity Fund). In her new capacity, Shauna will continue to be lead portfolio manager of this Fund.

MFC Global manages several top-performing Elliott & Page Mutual Funds including the Monthly High Income Fund, Growth Opportunities Fund and the Global Sector Fund. These funds have contributed significantly to the positive net flows into Elliott & Page Mutual Funds, which has been among the top five fund families in each of the last three months (based on net sales for the three months ending August 31, 2002.)
