Manulife’s Dominic D’Alessandro named ‘CEO of the Year’ Toronto – Manulife Financial Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Dominic D’Alessandro has been named ‘Canada’s Outstanding CEO of the Year 2002’ by his peers for his contribution to business and the community. “Dominic was the unanimous choice of our distinguished board of directors,” said Douglas Caldwell, founder of Canada’s Outstanding CEO of the Year Awards. “He exemplifies all of the many qualities that are looked for in honourees – vision, leadership, a bias for action, a demonstrated commitment to social responsibility and an international orientation. Under his leadership, Manulife Financial has developed into one of Canada’s most successful financial services companies.” Canada’s Outstanding CEO of the Year award was founded in 1990 to celebrate the achievements of the year’s most exceptional leader from the Canadian business community. The award recognizes those select individuals that are moving Canada forward in the international marketplace. A board of 22 distinguished business leaders, including past CEO award recipients, vote to select each year’s honouree. “I want to share this award with all of the Manulife teams throughout the world,” said Mr. D’Alessandro from the company’s global headquarters in Toronto, Canada. “Without the dedication and commitment of our employees we would not be the global leader in financial services that we are today. I am very proud of what we’ve accomplished and of the respect in which our fine company is held.” Mr. D’Alessandro will accept his award in Toronto on November 21, 2002.
