Following are highlights of Manulife Financial’s 117-year history, including the Company’s operations and milestones in key markets.

1887 – 19001901 – 19301931 – 1979
1980s 1990s2000 – 2004

On April 28, 2004, Manulife Financial Corporation and John Hancock Financial Services Inc. (including its Canadian subsidiary Maritime Life) completed the merger into one company under the name Manulife Financial. John Hancock is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Manulife Financial.
