Peter Rubenovitch
Senior Executive Vice President
 Peter Rubenovitch will be retiring from Manulife in September 2009 after 14 years of distinguished service. Mr. Rubenovitch has played an important role in many of Manulife’s defining moments, from its demutualization and initial public offering in 1999, to the financial integration with John Hancock following the merger announcement in 2004. Most recently, his efforts have been central to all of Manulife’s capital markets activities.
In 2004, Mr. Rubenovitch was named ‘Canada’s CFO of the Year’ by Financial Executives International and in 2009 he was named one of Canada’s five “TopGun” CFOs by Brendan Wood International.
Mr. Rubenovitch holds an MBA in Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Sir George Williams University, Montreal. He joined The Royal Bank of Canada in 1974 and held a number of lending and managerial positions, leading to his appointment as Vice President and Corporate Controller in 1988.
In 1989, Mr. Rubenovitch joined Globe International Inc. as Senior Executive Vice President & CFO. He was founder and President of Tion Financial Corporation, a financial consultancy, from 1992 to 1995.
Mr. Rubenovitch joined Manulife Financial in February of 1995. He was appointed Vice President, Business Development later that year, a position that included responsibility for acquisitions, divestitures, and new strategic initiatives. In January 1996, Mr. Rubenovitch was appointed Senior Vice President and Corporate Controller. Mr. Rubenovitch became Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in February 1998, and was appointed as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in April 2004, upon completion of the merger with John Hancock Financial Services.
