Greg Cerar, FSA, FCIA
Greg leads the Professional Services Team as the Vice President, Advanced Markets. Greg began his career at Manulife Financial, after graduating with a Bachelor of Math in Honours Actuarial Sciences from the University of Waterloo in 1981.
In his career at Manulife, Greg has worked in various areas, including Corporate, Group Life and Health, and Individual Insurance. He has extensive experience in the pricing, development and marketing of insurance products and is now focusing on distribution. He has been a presenter and panelist at various actuarial and industry workshops and conferences.
In addition to being responsible for the Professional Services Team, which includes the Tax & Estate Planning Group, Actuarial Consulting Group and the Regional Underwriters, Greg is also accountable for the Living Benefits team and Special Quote areas.
Florence Marino began her career as a tax lawyer with a major Toronto law firm. Her experience includes personal and corporate tax, trusts, estate planning and administration, as well as life insurance and critical illness insurance taxation.
A graduate of McGill University, she received her Bachelor of Laws degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1988.
Florence joined Manulife Financial in 1989 and, in 1994, she became Assistant Vice President of the Tax & Estate Planning Group. She provides tax, estate and insurance planning support and consultation to advisors regarding complex cases in the affluent and business markets.
Florence is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Tax Foundation, the Waterloo-Wellington Estate Planning Council, the Conference for Advanced Life Underwriting and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
She is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and seminars and has published numerous articles for Federated Press Insurance Planning. She is co-editor of “Canadian Taxation of Life Insurance” published by Carswell.
Gail Grobe, Chartered Accountant, spent several years in taxation and accounting with a national accounting firm in Toronto. Her experience includes both corporate and personal tax.
In 1995, she became a Taxation Officer in Manulife Financial's Corporate Tax area. In this role, she was responsible for corporate tax planning and compliance for Manulife Financial and its subsidiaries.
A graduate of the University of Waterloo, she received her Chartered Accountant designation in 1990.
In 1998, Gail became a Consultant with the Tax & Estate Planning Group. She provides tax, estate and insurance planning support and consultation to advisors regarding complex cases in the affluent and business markets.
Gail is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Canadian Association of Financial Planners.
Ian Taylor, B.B.A., CLU, CH.F.C.
Ian Taylor has had several years experience in the life insurance industry. Prior to joining the Tax & Estate Planning Group, Ian was in support management within Manulife Financial's Resource Centres.
A graduate of the University of New Brunswick, he received his Chartered Financial Consultant designation in 1998.
In 1993, Ian became a Senior Consultant with the Tax & Estate Planning Group. He provides tax, estate and insurance planning support and consultation to advisors regarding complex cases in the affluent and business markets.
Ian is a member of Advocis and the Canadian Tax Foundation. He speaks at industry conferences and has written articles for Comment and Forum, two publications of Advocis.
Gord Hiscock began his insurance career as the Marketing Director for a successful Managing General Agency. In 2003, he joined Manulife’s Tax & Estate Planning Group. Gord provides tax, estate and insurance planning support and consultation to advisors with complex cases.
Gord graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 2002 he received his Certified Financial Planners designation.
Carol Brubacher is a Chartered Accountant with over 10 years of taxation and accounting experience, including corporate and personal tax, estate, and succession planning. A graduate of the University of Waterloo, she received her Masters of Accounting in 1999 and Chartered Accountant designation in 2001.
Carol joined Manulife in 2007, bringing extensive taxation, compliance, and estate planning expertise. Prior to joining Manulife, she worked for several years as a Tax Manager at a national accounting firm.
Carol is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (ICAO), and the Canadian Tax Foundation.
